Here in Los Angeles, we spend a lot of time in our cars. It is what it is, and I actually believe that most women spend a lot of time in their cars. Work, errands, afterschool activities, our social lives–  so we need to make sure we make the most of the time when we are in the car solo.

About a year ago I was completely overwhelmed by the whole podcast thing. Who knew where to look? How did you know if they were any good? There are so many! But on a five-hour drive alone, I somehow found the 10% Happier Podcast with Dan Harris. I listened to five, one-hour podcasts and I was hooked! On my way home, I listened to some other podcasts that were advertised on The 10% Happier Podcast, and that led to another suggestion, which led to another suggestion, and suddenly I was back in LA with about 30 hours of unlistened podcasts saved on my phone.

Here are the top 5 podcasts I’d like to share with you:

Dirty John– from the Los Angeles Times. A true story about a woman who was duped by a con artist.

This American Life. You may have heard of this segment on NPR or other Public Radio Stations, stories of life and people in America.

10% Happier. Dan Harris, an ABC journalist who had a panic attack on air, starts to meditate which ultimately helps with his anxiety and panic disorder. He interviews other notable people who also meditate.

Reply All. Like the when you email someone back and hit Reply All. This podcast is about all things that are weird and quirky about the internet, computers and social media. You do not have to be tech savvy to enjoy this podcast. This is Stefanie talking. It took me a year to figure out how to copy a picture on Instagram. The hosts of this show are funny and entertaining and make me laugh out loud every time I listen to an episode.

Criminal. A true crime podcast. Phoebe Judge, the host of the show, also has the most perfect radio voice ever. These episodes are not long either. They are perfect for the commute home.

So enjoy your next drive, train ride or airplane trip. These will keep you entertained for hours.
